Blizzcore’s Future

November 30th, 2008

Hello! In this post, I will be going over what is coming to Blizzcore, and explaining what’s been happening in the past.

First off, the person writing this post is Strands.  Today, I spoke to the previous owner of Blizzcore about the site.  I will be managing what goes on the homepage from now on, aided by many new news posters who answered our call last week.  We are still accepting applications, and these should be emailed to strands @ blizzcore.com and we will give each one full consideration.  Meanwhile, Mirage, Blizzcore’s web design expert, will be taking over the development and ownership of the site.

Now, what will be coming to Blizzcore in the very near future? Well, now I’m going to be trying to get the new forum up as soon as possible, and with as little delay as possible.  Our prime objective with the site is giving you an easy way to communicate with fellow viewers, and the forums will be the main way of doing that.

Next, the content.  We will be offering much more content soon, with new guides - including the upcoming guide to the Nexus, which will be the next release - every week.  Myself and the content team have a nice line-up for you!

Advertisements have been added to the page to help fund the site, and we’d like to keep them as clean as possible.  If you see any gold seller ads, or other inappropriate ones, please email webmaster @ blizzcore.com with the link to the site, and we will have it blocked.

We’ll be having more information up soon.  Enjoy!

Gold Seller Spam on the Rise?

November 29th, 2008

Interested in buying gold? Getting leveled from 70 to 80 cheaply? Maybe you’d like to have your Inscription pumped? Chances are you’ll be bombarded with messages in trade channel, general chat, and whispers from helpful players like Qyyhhii or Bnmnbvc. Just log on to their website, give up $29 bucks or so as well as your logon name and password. Soon you’ll be rolling in gold with mad skills to boot!

Sound too good to be true? Not only are these sales and services not allowed under the WoW rules, anything involving your account name and password can get your account stolen, bank cleaned out, and even get your account banned.

Since the release of WotLK, all servers have seen a large rise in the amount of spam advertising such services. Read more…

Blizzard @ Dreamhack!

November 26th, 2008

www.wow-europe.com has recently been updated, confirming that Blizzard will be at this years Dreamhack! This years event takes place from the 27 - 30 of November at Elmia in Jönköping, Sweden. Here is the official announcement.

DreamHack Winter is back, and Blizzard Entertainment will be there! We’ve partnered with TeliaSonera to give this year’s attendees a chance to play Blizzard’s upcoming StarCraft II and the recently released World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King.

You’ll find us next to the DreamArena, where Blizzard representatives will be on hand to answer questions, chat with players, and demonstrate the games. We’ll also be running several contests featuring great prizes, including the Lich King’s legendary sword Frostmourne — though don’t be surprised if Arthas himself shows up to try to stop you from winning.

Elemental Shaman changes & TCG Wallpaper

November 26th, 2008

Elemental Shaman changes

Ghostcrawler wrote something about the upcoming Elemental Shaman changes.

We are making some upcoming changes to the Elemental shaman tree. Our goal was to streamline a few of the utility-based talents while giving shamans a little more damage scaling in later tiers of gear.

  • Unrelenting Storm – reduced from 5 points to 3 points. Bonus is 4/8/12% of your Intellect returned as mana.
  • Elemental Warding – now reduces all damage (not just Nature, Fire and Frost) taken by 2/4/6%
  • Elemental Shields – this talent has been removed, since its effects were combined with Elemental Warding.
  • Storm, Earth and Fire – reduced from 5 points to 3 points, but keeps around the same net benefit. In addition to current effects, also increases Wind Shock range. The damage bonus to Flame Shock has increased to 60% at 3 ranks. Storm, Earth and Fire has been moved up the tree as well.
  • Shamanism – this is a new 5 point talent in the old Storm, Earth and Fire position. Your Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst gain an additional percentage of your bonus damage. We have not finalized the numbers, but it will probably be something like 10% for Lightning Bolt and 20% for Lava Burst at max ranks.

These changes will be available in the next minor content patch, and are in addition to the AE changes mentioned previously.

New TCG Wallpaper

A new Trading Card Game Wallpaper is available on the official World of Warcraft site.
