Blizzcore Terminology Guide

October 30th, 2008

The first Blizzcore guide has been added to the “Guides” tab!

A terminology guide has been added to the Guides tab, and includes an informative A-Z of phrases and abbreviations you will hear throughout your gameplay.  The introduction for the guide:

Have you ever sat there, clicking away at your mouse, hacking away at those murlocs, wondering what people are talking about when they say, for example, “I’ll go to TP, you go to IW”? You haven’t a clue what they mean, and you go running off to cap a graveyard.  Perhaps it’s that people are asking you if you “Want BT”? You certainly don’t want BT, their internet is terrible.  You haven’t a clue what they mean.  Have no fear, this guide shall save you from these dilemmas, and you will return to the world (of Warcraft) with a whole new vocabulary.

I hope it helps you! If you feel that anything has been left out, send an email to strands@blizzcore.com and I will add it.

WotLK - One Month to go

October 8th, 2008

Howdy, I guess most of you know it already but in nearly one month the new expansion will launch. Huge changes in the class trees and an introduction of a total new class is facing us. Also a brand new continent and lots of new encounters to adventure. I am really looking forward to the expansion and as far as I experienced Wrath of the Lich King in the Beta, it’s just stunning. If the pve content is equal to the dragon boss Malygos I’ll going nuts. Also the new Battleground is pretty funny, although it’s a lot of zerging and ganking. I literally play a Paladin and I feel fine with the new talents. The Retribution tree is just stunning and really makes fun in pvp (that may be because I kill 3-6 people in a row ;-)). On the other side something that really disappoint me is the Paladin holy tree. The new talents are boring and we can’t compete in Arena. We have a cool spell which takes too much mana and we go oom like a boomkin, but maybe Blizzard wants to redirect us to play Retribution cause as far as I played Retribution in instances the Paladin is quite a good supporter. Beside my class I really love the new zones because I was a bit fed up from Outlands, it was cool but a bit too colorful, Northrend shows the old warm fantasy style and it feels like you are back home.

Most of you know that the huge difference from us and other World of Warcraft fanpages is that we try to be in touch with the community, you are Blizzcore! That’s why the Blizzcore Crew and myself want to know your thoughts on the upcoming expansion, simply write a comment!

Starcraft 2 September/October Discussion Topic - The Zerg Creep

September 15th, 2008

The Zerg Creep was chosen as the next Blizzard community discussion topic. Karune, the Starcraft 2 community manager, had the following to say..

“One of the distinct features of the Zerg is their fast movement, quick reactions and their large numbers. With the newest changes to the StarCraft II build these attributes are bound to reinforced once more.

Here are a couple of changes to the Zerg:

Zerg units except Drones can now move 30% faster on creep

Creep Tumors are smaller and burrowed

These changes will have a big impact on Zerg strategy, since covering terrain with Creep will now be very important. We will see Overlord rushes with mass spewing of creep and Zerg fast micro on creep. The burrowed Creep Tumors will force the other races to get quick detection to push back the Zerg Creep and take their fast movement.

Keep in mind, the actual percentages and numbers are all subject to balance. The primary discussion should be about the new game mechanic, and how this could affect strategies on all sides.

Also, don’t forget that Overlords (with the prerequisite of Lair) can spread creep, and creep that touches enemy (non-Zerg)buildings, damages those buildings.”

The addition of faster unit movement on the creep adds many new strategies and mechanics for Zerg players. It will obviously be a huge advantage for a Zerg player to spread as much creep on a map as possible to allow for swift transportation of units and severe area/expansion denial against opponents.
